Brophy College Preparatory Students Earn Awards for Statistics and Journalism

Two Brophy College Preparatory students have earned awards for excellence in statistics and journalism.

Junior Raj Vatsa has been named the winner of the Arizona High School Statistics in Research Champion Award presented his scientific research at the State Statistics Competition for his project “Understanding the Effect of the Ketogenic Diet on the Expression of the Regulatory Protein Nuclear Factor Kappa-Light- Chain Enhancer of Activated B Cell in Mouse Glioblastoma- An Attempt to Identify a Mechanism of the Ketogenic Diet’s Adjuvant Therapeutic Role in Brain Tumors.”

The award was given at Arizona State University. Vatsa also received second place at the Arizona Science & Engineering Fair for the same project in addition to the United States Metric Association SI Award.

Senior Julian De Ocampo won the Journalism Education Association/Arizona Interscholastic Press Association's Arizona Journalist of the Year award. The selection committee required an extensive portfolio submission along with faculty recommendations.
