Father Richard T. Coz, SJ, died Friday, December 31, in Regis Infirmary at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, California, after a long illness. He was 86 years old. Born in Fresno, California, on August 24, 1924, Dick entered the Society of Jesus at Sacred Heart Novitiate in Los Gatos on August 14, 1947. He pronounced final vows on March 25, 1977, at Santa Clara University. May he rest in peace!
All members of the California Province and those applied to it are to offer or celebrate one first intention Mass and members of the Jesuit Community at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center and those attached to it but living elsewhere (cf. 2011 Catalogus USA, pgs. 36-38) are to offer or celebrate one additional first intention Mass for the repose of Dick’s soul.
Father John P. McBride, SJ, veteran of the 75th Infantry Division during WW II who saw action in the Battle of the Bulge and helped in the liberation of France before becoming a teacher, pastor, and chaplain throughout the Northwest, entered into God’s peace October 20.
