Requiscat In Pace: Father Joseph Ripley Caldwell S.J.
Father Joseph Ripley Caldwell, S.J., died Thursday, May 27, in Regis Infirmary at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, California, after a long illness. He was 88 years old. Born in San Antonio, Texas, on November 28, 1921, Ripley entered the Society of Jesus at Sacred Heart Novitiate in Los Gatos on June 28, 1941. He pronounced final vows on August 15, 1959, at Loyola University in Los Angeles, California. May he rest in peace!
All members of the California Province and those applied to it are to offer or celebrate one first intention Mass and members of the Jesuit Community at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center and those attached to it but living elsewhere (cf. 2010 Catalogus USA, pgs. 36-39) are to offer or celebrate one additional first intention Mass for the repose of Ripley's soul.
