Requiscat In Pace: Vernon J. Ruland, S.J.

Father Vernon J. Ruland, S.J., died peacefully Thursday, April 2, at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, California. He was 77 years old. Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, on October 15, 1931, Vern entered the Society of Jesus in Milford, Ohio, on August 8, 1950. He pronounced final vows on August 15, 1967, in Detroit and transcribed to the California Province on June 18, 1992. May he rest in peace.

All members of the California Province and those applied to it are to offer or celebrate one first intention Mass and members of the Loyola House Jesuit Community and those attached to it but living elsewhere (cf. 2009 Catalogus USA, pgs. 45-46) are to offer or celebrate one additional first intention Mass for the repose of Vern’s soul.
