Requiscat In Pace: Thomas P. Higgins, S.J.

Father Thomas P. Higgins, S.J., died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Regis Infirmary at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, California, of a brain seizure. He was 75 years old. Born in Santa Monica, California, on January 5, 1932, Tom entered the Society of Jesus at Sacred Heart Novitiate, Los Gatos, on August 14, 1952. He pronounced final vows on April 22, 1974, at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. May he rest in peace.

All members of the California Province and those applied to it are to offer or celebrate one first intention Mass and members of the Jesuit Community at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center and those attached to it but living elsewhere (cf. 2007 Catalogus USA, pg. 38) are to offer or celebrate one additional first intention Mass for the repose of Tom’s soul.

June 13, 2018 - Jesuits West is grateful to the William H. Hannon Foundation for being the first Foundation in Los Angeles to join the Provincial Circle with their gift of $400,000.

June 11, 2018 - Bishop of San Diego, Most Reverend Robert W. McElroy ordained on Saturday, June 9, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in San Ysidro, California, four Jesuit Priests: Fr. JT Tanner, SJ , Fr. Elías Puentes, SJ, Fr. Alejandro Báez-González, SJ, and Fr. Thomas Flowers, SJ.

June 10, 2018 - The Jesuits West Province of the Society of Jesus held its Ordination Mass near the U.S.-Mexico border to call attention to the plight of immigrants. Province leaders and priests also participated in a Prayer Rally on June 8 at Chicano Park in San Diego in support of immigrants.
