Father Richard L. McCurdy, S.J., died peacefully Friday, July 21, 2006, at Regis Infirmary at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, California, of complications from a stroke. He was 76 years old. Born in San Diego, California, on January 12, 1930, Dick entered the Society of Jesus at Sacred Heart Novitiate, Los Gatos, on August 14, 1956. He pronounced final vows on March 19, 1977, at St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco, California. May he rest in peace.
All members of the California Province and those applied to it are to offer or celebrate one first intention Mass and members of the Jesuit Community at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center and those attached to it but living elsewhere (cf. 2006 Catalogus USA, pg. 37-38) are to offer or celebrate one additional first intention Mass for the repose of Dick’s soul.
July 31, 2019 — Jesuits from Most Holy Trinity Parish, Bellarmine College Prep, SLO Catholic Neuman Center and Santa Clara Jesuit Community gathered at Mission Santa Clara to celebrate the Feast of St. Ignatius, Founder of the Jesuits.
July 8, 2019 — On a Sunday in mid-June, before thousands of cheering Seattle University students, Fr. José Alberto (Chepe) Idiáquez, SJ, of Nicaragua, was presented with an honorary doctorate degree from University President Fr. Stephen Sundborg, SJ.
