Nearly 100 benefactors and friends gathered on April 16 at the Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, Calif., to celebrate the successful conclusion of the California Province's Generations Capital Campaign.
California Provincial Fr. Michael F. Weiler, SJ, Oregon Provincial Fr. Scott Santarosa, SJ, and Generations Campaign Co-Chairman John M. Sobrato offered remarks of welcome and thanks, and Generations Campaign benefactor Susan Carter addressed how her family has been impacted by Jesuits and described why she and her husband, Bill, were moved to support the campaign. As part of the day's festivities, the Sacred Heart Jesuit Center, home to approximately 90 senior and infirm Jesuits, was blessed by House Superior Fr. John Privett, SJ. Read Fr. Privett's blessing.
The recently concluded Generations Capital Campaign exceeded its $27 million goal. Completed projects at the Sacred Heart Jesuit Center included Regis Infirmary expansion, installation of heating and air conditioning in each resident room, a new multipurpose room, family guest suites, electrical upgrades, and improvement to the sacred Heart Chapel. Projects completed at The Jesuit Novitiate of the Three Companions in Culver City, Calif., included a 10-room addition to accommodate an expected increase in the number of Jesuit novices, a new St. Ignatius Chapel to replace a converted garage, and support for the Formation fund for men from the California and Oregon provinces studying for Jesuit priesthood or brotherhood.
