California and Oregon Provincials Discuss New Superior General
California Provincial Father Michael Weiler, SJ, and Oregon Provincial Father Scott Santarosa, SJ, took some time from General Congregation 36 in Rome to discuss how new Jesuit Superior General Fr. Arturo, Sosa, SJ, is the right man to guide the Society of Jesus.
The Congregation concluded on November 12, marking the departure from Rome of more than 200 Jesuits from around the world who gathered in October to elect a new leader and also outline an agenda for the Society of Jesus for the coming years.
Fathers Weiler and Santarosa were just two of the five delegates from the California and Oregon provinces which are coming together to form a new province – Jesuits West – in July, 2017.
January 22 will mark 45 years since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision made abortion legal in the United States, and today the Society of Jesus in the U.S. is asking Jesuits and their collaborators to continue to stand in solidarity with the unborn and with mothers in difficult situations.
