Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit High School Names New President
November 30, 2017 —
Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit High School has named Margaret Higgins, Ph.D., its
next president. Higgins, who currently serves as senior director of development
and scholarship initiatives at Santa Clara University, will officially join the
CRSJ team Dec. 15, 2017.
At the University of San Francisco, Higgins served as vice president
of university life and chief student affairs officer and later, assistant to
the president and adjunct faculty for the School of Education, Leadership and
Organization. She then served as vice president of student affairs and assistant
professor of education at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island.
More recently, Higgins transitioned her skills to fundraising and development in
her current role at Santa Clara University.
Higgins earned a bachelor’s degree in communication disorders
from The College of Saint Rose; a master’s in guidance and psychological services
from Springfield College; and a Ph.D. in educational administration and policy
from The Catholic University of America.
CRSJ also acknowledged the contributions of its founding president,
Fr. Peter Pabst, SJ. “He, along with interim president Matt Bell and principal
Joe Albers, have built an incredibly strong foundation upon which the new president,
faculty and staff will continue to build in support of our amazing students,”
the announcement said.
“We are confident that Higgins’ passion for the mission,
leadership and people skills, administrative expertise and fundraising acumen
are precisely the right combination of attributes CRSJ needs to build upon its
early successes and move forward into what we know will be a very bright future
for the school.”
Higgins said, "I relish this unique opportunity to lead
a school which does not compromise the spiritual, intellectual or professional
development of the next generation of San Jose's college graduates and
community leaders. I can't wait to meet the students and families that will be
a big part of the next phase of my career and life, while we work together to
create and sustain an environment in which all will feel a sense of belonging
and challenge." [Source: Cristo Rey San
