In October and November of 2016, General Congregation 36 (GC-36) convened in Rome. A general congregation is the supreme governing body of the Society of Jesus. In addition to electing Fr. Arturo Sosa, SJ, from Venezuela as the new Superior General of the Society of Jesus, several decrees were written and approved to help guide the Society in its mission to serve where the needs are greatest. In preparing these decrees, Jesuit delegates at GC-36 held true to the key principles of Social Justice and Ignatian Spirituality as their guide.
