Members of the California Province are to offer or celebrate one first intention Mass for the repose of the soul of our brother Ferdinand T. Azevedo who died unexpectedly on January 17 while on retreat near Recife, Brazil. Services have been held for him there.
Fred was born July 8, 1938, in Colusa and entered the Society at Sacred Heart Novitiate in Los Gatos in 1957 after a year at Notre Dame University. He was ordained in San Francisco on June 20, 1970, and pronounced final vows in Recife, Brazil, in 1977. Even though he served in Brazil since 1975 as teacher, treasurer and even provincial, Fred remained a member of the California Province. May he rest in peace!
