Father Philip L. Bourret, S.J., a member of the China Province applied to California, died peacefully Tuesday, January 29, in Regis Infirmary at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center, Los Gatos, California. He was 94 years old. Born in Seattle, Washington, on April 14, 1913, Phil entered the Society of Jesus at Sacred Heart Novitiate in Los Gatos on September 7, 1929. He pronounced final vows on February 3, 1947, at Santa Clara University. May he rest in peace.
All members of the California Province and those applied to it are to offer or celebrate one first intention Mass and members of the Jesuit Community at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center and those attached to it but living elsewhere (cf. 2008 Catalogus USA, pgs. 37-38) are to offer or celebrate one additional first intention Mass for the repose of Phil’s soul.

May 28, 2020 — Father Thomas W. Franxman, SJ, retired professor of Scripture and Semitic languages, died May 24, 2020 at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center, Los Gatos, at the age of 87 and would have celebrated his 70th anniversary as a Jesuit later this year.
