May 8, 2019 — 24 Jesuits West Pilgrims enjoyed a ten day jammed-packed pilgrimage of cultural, spiritual, historical and fine food experiences in the City of Lights, April 23- May 2. Along with a French cooking class, the visiting of world class museums, Giverny, Versailles and a dinner cruise on the Seine, other highlights included Masses in French at St. Ignace and St. Pierre du Montmartre as well as Mass at the Martyrium Shrine of St. Denis where St. Ignatius and Companions pronounced their 1st vows on August 15th, 1534. The tour concluded with a special farewell dinner at Chez Françoise Restaurant. Chaplains Fr. Sam Bellino, SJ, and Fr. John Mossi, SJ, were pilgrimage organizers and spiritual directors. Barbara Gunning, Jesuits West Senior Philanthropy Officer for southern California and Arizona served as pilgrimage co-host.
May 8, 2019 — Working through shareholder activism, in partnership with investors and members of the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility, Jesuits West has helped pass a shareholder resolution to hold GEO Group, one of the largest prison and detention center operators in the country, accountable for human rights and treatment of detainees.
April 22, 2019 — Provincial Scott Santarosa, SJ, assisted by Sacred Heart Jesuit Center Acting Superior Fr. Dick Case, SJ, concelebrant, Fr. Sam Bellino, SJ, and MC, Fr, John Mossi, SJ, celebrated the beginning of Holy Week with the Palm Sunday Liturgy.
