Father William F. Lester, S.J., died Sunday, October 17, at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, California. He was 89 years old. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on February 4, 1921, Bill entered the Society of Jesus at Sacred Heart Novitiate in Los Gatos on August 14, 1941. He pronounced final vows on August 15, 1960, at Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, California. May he rest in peace!
All members of the California Province and those applied to it are to offer or celebrate one first intention Mass and members of the Jesuit Community at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center and those attached to it but living elsewhere (cf. 2010 Catalogus USA, pgs. 36-39) are to offer or celebrate one additional first intention Mass for the repose of Bill’s soul.

December 6, 2019 — Patrick Joseph Howell, SJ, priest, brother, uncle, friend, a man of God and disciple of God to others, left this world on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2019, in Spokane, WA, due to complications from lung cancer.
November 22, 2019 — Following a violent clash between police forces and student protestors at the Jesuit University of Central America in Nicaragua, international Jesuit groups condemned the Nicaraguan government for escalating violence there.
